There is no better way to see out the year than with one of the area's great running traditions.
The Ely New Year's Eve 10K is a true local classic, bringing runners together in Little Downham for a fast, friendly and memorable 10K through the Cambridgeshire countryside.
Whether you are chasing a quick time, racing your clubmates, looking for one final PB of the year, or simply want to enjoy a brilliant end of year run, this is a race with a very special atmosphere.
And as you tackle the final climb towards the finish, there is something you will not find at many 10Ks: the sound of live bagpipes carrying across the course as you make your way up the hill and towards the finish line.
It makes for a fantastic finale and a finish you will remember.
The Ely New Year's Eve 10K takes place on a fast, fairly level, one lap rural course starting and finishing in Little Downham, near Ely.
The predominantly flat nature of the course makes it an excellent opportunity for a quick 10K, while the countryside setting and enthusiastic support give the race its distinctive character.

This is much more than another 10K.
Over the years, the race has become a firm favourite in the local running calendar, attracting competitive club runners, regular participants and runners who simply love the idea of finishing their year with 10K on the roads.
Expect a busy Race HQ, plenty of fellow runners, a great atmosphere and that unmistakable sound of the bagpipes waiting for you as you head towards the finish.
There is a generous prize structure recognising the leading male and female finishers, together with a wide range of veteran age categories.
The overall male and female winners also receive an engraved pewter goblet, adding their names to the history of this long established event.
Please note that a maximum of one award may be won by each runner.
This may be a friendly local favourite, but it has also attracted some exceptionally quick runners over the years.
The men's course record stands at an impressive 30:05, set by Will Clarke of Cambridge Tri Club.
The women's event has also seen outstanding performances, including 33:26 by Daisy Glover of Framlingham Flyers.
So if you are looking for a fast end of year 10K, you will be following in some very quick footsteps.
